A Diagnosis I Never Saw Coming
In 2013, I heard a word I had never come across before: endometriosis. It was a diagnosis that would change everything.
The months leading up to it were excruciating. The pain was relentless and life-altering. Over the next year, I underwent three surgeries in just twelve months, hoping for relief. However, the chronic pain did not stop. Instead, I found myself relying on the highest doses of painkillers simply to function. I felt disconnected from my own body, as though it was constantly working against me.
A Turning Point: Questioning Everything
At my lowest, I had a realisation that would shape the rest of my journey: our bodies have an incredible ability to heal if we give them the right tools. But what if we’re unknowingly sabotaging that process? As I began researching, a single thread kept appearing in everything I read: toxin overload. From what we eat to what we apply to our skin, our modern world is filled with harmful ingredients that impact our wellbeing. The connection between toxins and chronic illnesses became undeniable to me. I began questioning the connection between environmental toxins and chronic conditions. If I wanted to reclaim my health, I had to take control.
Pushing Boundaries: How Exercise Became My Power
Exercise became an unexpected yet vital part of my recovery. Through determination, I moved my body in ways I once thought impossible. Instead of feeling like my body was failing me, movement became my biggest source of strength.
Gradually, movement shifted from being a source of frustration to a source of strength.
Exercise helped reduce inflammation, improve circulation and regulate stress levels. More importantly, it restored my sense of control. Wellness, I realised, is never one-dimensional. It is a balance of what we consume, what we apply to our skin and how we support our bodies every day.
That philosophy would later shape Vemel’s wellness led skincare approach.
Turning Life Upside Down: The Birth of Vemel
I completely transformed my lifestyle, removing toxins from every aspect of my life. s I fully embraced organic living, I searched for skincare that aligned with my values. Yet I struggled to find products that were both genuinely organic and high performance. I did not just want clean skincare. I wanted organic skincare that worked, formulas rooted in botanicals yet strengthened by biotech innovation. I wanted fragrance free skincare that respected sensitive skin. Most importantly, I wanted waterless skincare, concentrated, purposeful and free from unnecessary dilution.
When I could not find it, I created it.
